More than 20 years ago, Carte Colori was the first in the Netherlands to market authentic Italian lime paint. Inspired by the renowned decorator and antique dealer Axel Vervoordt, an intensive search began for a company that could make lime paints in the same atmosphere. In a traditional way, that is. That quest came out in Italy. And with that, the impetus for the Carte Colori label was actually given. Due to the lack of certain living colors in existing color collections, a complete own color line has been created that today contains 114 unique colors.

Our lime paint is an authentic product that is made with care in a traditional way. Today, the basis for our lime paint is still made according to traditional methods in Italy. In the Veneto region, good quality lime is extracted and roasted and quenched using traditional methods. The limestone is burned very gently in vertical cylindrical kilns. This slow roasting process ensures a high quality lime. After about 1 day there is almost only lime powder left, it is brought to rest in silos in about a month and extinguished in a natural way. After this it goes into a lime pit and is extinguished with water. The hydraulic part of the lime reacts to the water, petrifies and is scooped out, leaving a pure product. This is repeated a number of times until a very pure product remains, the fat lime. The basis of our lime paint. In the factory in Italy, this fatty lime is sieved again and then mixed with water and other elements to form a high-quality lime paint.
